Taking cognizance of irresponsible behaviour for creating content for social media, the Odisha Police have warned the social media users to refrain from making reels (short-vertical format videos) at dangerous places which can put their and others’ lives at risk.
Taking to Twitter, Odisha Police said, “In the hope of becoming famous on social media, some youths are making reels in dangerous places. Due to this, there is a possibility of accident and loss of life. As a responsible citizen, do not fall for such cheap popularity and avoid such dangerous activities.”
Commenting on the matter, Bhubaneswar DCP, Prateek Singh said, “There is a trend going on in social media to make reels. Everybody is making these things. But people should be aware of their surroundings while making them. We have seen people making reels while driving, while standing at any dangerously elevated place.”
“People are doing this for thrill. But I want to make social media users aware to keep their and other people’s safety in mind before making reels,” he added.
“Social media is a free space. Its users have a responsibility bestowed upon them to use it responsibly. Wherever we come across people who break law while using social media, we take appropriate action against them,” Singh said.
