Tension prevailed at Brahmanipal area in Keonjhar over the ownership of the truck owners’ association engaged in the transportation of iron ores from Daitari mines after Brahmanipal Truck Owners’ Association was formed.
Deepak Jena has been reportedly elected as the president of the new association.
Following the formation of the new government in Odisha, controversy erupted in the area over the distribution of loading slips between different associations.
However, following the development, Odisha Mining Corporation will now provide tokens to only Jay Bajarangbali Truck and Tipper Association instead of distributing them to other organisations.
Though Maa Tarini Tipper Association has no issue over the formation of the new association, Maa Tipper Association has expressed its dissatisfaction and opposed the move.
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to prevent any kind of untoward incidents. As many as four platoon police forces including Additional SP of Keonjhar, two SDPOs and five Inspectors of various police stations have been deployed there.
Notably, a total of 5,000 trucks are engaged in transporting iron ores from Daitari mines and around 2,500 members are involved in the association.
“To give justice to the people of the area one association has been formed,” said Deepak Jena, President of Jay Bajarangbali Truck and Tipper Association.
“Earlier, there was one association which was serving the members. However, another association was formed after three and a half years. Now, another new association has been formed and they are trying to load with their tokens. How it will be possible? We have 5,000 trucks and their owners with us. We will definitely oppose the move,” said Alok Patra, president of Maa Tarini Tipper Association.
Meanwhile, as per sources, the district administration has called both associations for a meeting today to find a possible solution to the issue.
