In an unusual turn of events, the Director of Jeypore Airport in Odisha’s Koraput district has been accused of physical harassment of a female worker. The serious allegation has been made against the Director of Jeypore Airport, Commander Abakash Parida.

The female worker has accused Parida of making inappropriate comments and subjecting her to physical harassment. According to the complaint, the director attempted to force the young woman into a physical relationship, and when she refused, he dismissed her from her job.

The incident was reported at the Jeypore Mahila Police Station. However, Commander Parida has denied all accusations, calling them false. Currently, the police are investigating the matter.

“I was engaged in the maintenance work. My work was to serve tea and water in the office. However, they later terminated me without any notice,” alleged the victim.

On the other hand, Abakash Parida has refuted the allegations and said, “It is a completely baseless and false allegation against me. I have talked with the IIC and put forward my version. Proper investigation is on now.”

However, he refused to explain why he terminated her from her job without proper explanation if the allegations were false.

The incident has sparked concerns about workplace safety and implementing sexual harassment prevention measures at the airport. Jeypore Airport recently began flight services connecting Jeypore to Bhubaneswar.

The airport's operations are relatively new, which raises questions about the establishment of proper workplace policies and procedures to prevent such incidents.
