At least six persons have reportedly died due to diarrhoea outbreak at different places in Nabarangpur and Bolangir districts so far in the ongoing rainy season.
As per reports, three persons have lost their valuable lives after suffering from diarrhea at Dandasenaguda village under Jhadabandhaguda Panchayat in Nabarangpur in the last four days.
The village reportedly witnessed the outbreak of the water-borne disease on August 8. Upon being informed Health Department officials reached the spot to take stock of the situation. They are now checking the health conditions of the people in the area.
However, as per the District Medical and Public Health Officer Naba Kishore Behera, while one of the deceased died due to diarrhoea, the reason behind the death of two other persons is yet to be ascertained. A medical team is currently continuing the treatment of the affected persons in the village.
Water samples from various places in the village have been sent for the examination.
“People in the area are resorting to sorcery instead of medical treatment which is compounding the problems,” said Behera.
Similarly, at least three persons reportedly died due to the outbreak of diarrhoea at Mahaga village under Titlagarh village in Bolangir district.
As many as 15 persons in the area are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital after getting infected by the disease. At least two of them are stated to be critical.
However, the reason behind the spread of the infectious disease is yet to be ascertained. A medical team has reportedly reached the village to take stock of the situation. Water samples from various places in the village have been sent for examination.
