A notorious thief from Odisha's Nilagiri area was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a major burglary involving Rs 80 lakh. The accused, Jagabandhu Mallik, was apprehended after fleeing with a share of the stolen cash following a high-profile theft in Delhi. He hails from Ishwarpur Police Outpost area in Balasore district, Odisha. 

Builder's Home Targeted In CR Park Heist

As per police sources, Jagabandhu, along with two associates, looted Rs 80 lakh from the residence of a builder in CR Park locality in Delhi. The trio committed the theft and attempted to return to Odisha with the stolen money.

During their escape after the burglary, one of the accused, Ashutosh Mallik, was arrested by police at a railway station. Another accused managed to flee and is believed to have escaped to Bihar. Jagabandhu Mallik, meanwhile, returned to Nilagiri with Rs 20 lakh from the stolen amount.

Delhi Police later tracked Jagabandhu, arrested him, and seized the Rs 20 lakh from his possession. According to reports, Ashutosh was apprehended shortly after the theft, making Jagabandhu the second to be caught. With two of the three accused now in custody, only one member of the gang remains at large.

The case underlines the level of inter-state coordination required to apprehend criminals who operate and escape across regional boundaries.
