The people of Odisha are intrigued by the question of when a probe into the expenditures on former 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s frequent tours across Odisha using helicopters will be conducted.
“Decision in this regard is being taken. You will know the answer to your question very soon,” Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said mediapersons.
“BJP has spread many lies about the chopper rides of VK Pandian. Even their minister confessed in the State Assembly that nothing illegal was done. BJP is trying to escape by diverting the attention of people, on the pretext of investigation,” said BJD leader Sarada Jena in response.
Notably, when BJD was in power, the party leader and former 5T Secretary toured around 27 districts in Odisha in helicopters during the 2024 General Elections and beforehand.
As a result, a huge amount of money was spent from the State exchequer. Though several RTI activists sought information regarding the expenditure on Pandian’s chopper rides, they were not provided any.
Earlier in August, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said that a probe into the expenditures on Pandian’s tours across Odisha using helicopters is underway and stern action will be taken, in case any violation of norms is found.
