The mortal remains of an Odia labourer, who died in Congo, reached his native village in Kendrapara district in Odisha on Monday, twenty-three days after his death. It was all possible due to the intervention of Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice President, Baijayant Panda, informed the victim's family.
According to the family members, Dibakar Jena of Manpur village under Aul Police limits in Kendrapara district had gone to Congo eight months ago to work as a plumber. He went there through an agent. Due to some reasons yet to be ascertained, he died there on December 15.
The family did their best to get the body back but failed in every attempt. As a last-ditch effort, they contacted Baijayant Panda and requested him to intervene. Subsequently, Baijayant Panda wrote a letter to the Embassy there. Only then, the process of transfer of the body back to India started.
“We received the news about his death on December 16. Four days later, we met Baijayant babu and sought his intervention. Because of his help, Dibakar’s mortal remains reached our village today. We will remain grateful to Baijayant babu,” said Hrushikesh Jena, the victim's uncle.
