NHRC’s Earlier Probe of Nepali Girl Student’s Death

NHRC had earlier investigated a similar case involving the death of a Nepali student at KIIT University which drew criticisms the way the deceased student’s colleagues were allegedly misbehaved by the authorities of the institution.

Following the earlier investigation, the Commission had flagged several procedural lapses regarding student safety and issued recommendations to the concerned authorities.

However, the university challenged the NHRC’s recommendations in the Orissa High Court, which subsequently issued a stay on their implementation. Meanwhile, the recurrence of such a tragic event has reignited concerns about student welfare and institutional responsibility.

In his latest social media post, Priyank further stated that the NHRC is once again officially taking note of the incident and will act accordingly.

The development has sparked fresh debates on campus safety protocols and the accountability of educational institutions in ensuring the well-being of international students.
