Normal life has severely been affected in Kantabanji town in Bolangir district as Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsh Samiti is observing a 12-hour bandh on Tuesday demanding district status to the Notified Area Council (NAC).
The members of the group were seen picketing at strategic locations from early morning. The impact of the bandh has started to be felt as all the shops, markets and business establishments downed their shutters. Vehicular movement in the town has come to a grinding halt. However, emergency services like movement of ambulances have been kept out of the bandh purview.
Most of the organisations in the town are learnt to be supporting the bandh call.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier similar bandhs over the district tag demand were also observed on March 25 this year and in November 2022.
As no step was taken by the state government, Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsh Samiti again gave a bandh call for today.
