Two Odisha government employees have come under the scanner of the Vigilance department for alleged corruption and accumulation of disproportionate assets.
The Vigilance sleuths on Monday conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of Cuttack Sadar block assistant engineer Bikash Chandra Bhuyan and Banking Assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank, Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets.
According to sources, the anti-corruption agency carried out simultaneous raids at four places associated with Bhuyan.
Three teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising three DSPs, four Inspectors, and other staff are conducting the searches on the properties belonging to Bhuyan.
Bhuyan’s residential house located at Soubhagya Nagar in Bhubaneswar, his native house at Lehenga village in Cuttack, his relative’s house at Chakeisiani in Bhubaneswar and his office chamber at Sadar Block in Cuttack are raided by the anti-corruption agency.
Similarly, three DSPs, three Inspectors and other staff are carrying out the raids on the properties of Chandrakar in Nuapada and Komna, sources informed.
Till the last report came in, the searches were underway at Chandrakar’s two residential double-storey houses, one under-construction house at Beltukuri in Nuapada and his office room at Bhawanipatna.
While further details regarding the raids will be known later, the Vigilance teams are said to have already laid their hands on many crucial documents related to the property of the government officials.
