According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, a cyclonic circulation (the remnants of Cyclone Wipha) is likely to emerge over the northern Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region in the next 48 hours.

Cyclonic Circulation Over Bay Of Bengal

The remnants of Cyclone Wipha, which had previously weakened over land, are now regaining strength as it moves back over warm ocean waters. According to IMD, it will re-enter the northeast Bay of Bengal as a cyclonic circulation, and is likely to develop into a low-pressure area under the influence of favourable atmospheric conditions.

The development is being aided by a strong monsoon trough, currently extending from northwest India to the northeast Bay, and an upper air cyclonic circulation positioned over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, tilting southeastward with height.
