It is always said that you will get recognition someday if you do your duty with dedication. This has been proven right in the case of Sibani Mandal in Odisha who is now getting praises from all quarters for her dedication towards shifting an elderly woman by carrying her on her shoulder to cyclone shelter ahead of the severe cyclonic storm which made landfall on October 24-25.
Sibani Mandal is an ASHA worker from Khasmunda village of Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district. She evacuated an elderly woman carrying on her shoulder to a cyclone shelter, demonstrating commendable dedication and service.
She carried a total of nine people, seven elders and two pregnant women, piggyback to cyclone shelters.
Her dedication has won accolades, not only from the public, but also from several eminent personalities, political leaders and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.

The CM, after reviewing the cyclone Dana situation on Friday, also lauded the work of the ASHA worker.
In an exclusive interview to OTV, Mandal said it was her duty to ensure safety of people and she only did that.

“The CM spoke with me. I was not aware of this. I am happy that my work has been praised by all. I have always tried to help people as everybody’s financial condition is not good. Hence, I try to ensure that I take patients to the government hospital. Other ASHA workers sometimes oppose me. But I have never worked for money,” said Mandal.
According to Mandal, she is ready to offer help to those who need any kind of assistance at any time of the day or night.
As the entire area is an isolated place and there is threat of wild animals, Mandal said, “I try to manage my duty as well my responsibility towards my family. I have never neglected my work.”
