Cuttack Superintendent of Police SP Prateek Singh on Sunday recommended strict action against Officer in Charge (OIC) Priyadarshan Sethi of Baideswar police station in Cuttack district after photos of him allegedly assaulting two people went viral on social media a couple of days back.

The viral photograph, which quickly gained attention on social media, depicted the accused officer allegedly pinning a man to the ground on the Baideshwar T-Bridge with his foot on his back while engaged in a phone call.

The visuals also featured the biker’s motorcycle lying nearby on the road, while another youth kneeled close by.

The incident reportedly took place during a night patrol at the T-bridge by police from the Baideswar police station, where Sethi was functioning as the OIC.

The confrontation began when he stopped two young men on a motorcycle, leading to a dispute that allegedly resulted in the OIC and another officer physically assaulting the men. Additional allegations also claim that Sethi threatened one of the youths by brandishing a firearm from his pocket.

After photos of the incident went viral, OIC Priyadarshan Sethi was transferred to the SP office. Subsequently, the decision to initiate action against him has been issued by the SP.
