The Union government has sanctioned a significant grant of  Rs 13,000 crore this year for the development of National Highways across the state, stipulating swift project execution to achieve goals, informed Odisha Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday while reviewing the pace and status of the projects.

According to the Minister, a target has been set to complete roadworks worth Rs 2,000 crore by September. Moreover, the entire budget is expected to be utilised by the year-end, setting a new record in infrastructure project completion.

As per reports, a target has been set in a review meeting today to complete the National Highway projects in one year which ordinarily spans five. The forward-looking plans aim to connect all the major regions, commercial centres, and ports by 2036, with an extension goal by 2047.

The Minister further informed that a strategic blueprint has been prepared to guide this expansive vision.

Cuttack-Sambalpur Road Nearing Completion

"The long-awaited Cuttack-Sambalpur highway is in the final stages of completion. Delays were incurred due to financial challenges faced by the implementing agency. The road work will be completed by the end of this year," said Minister Harichandan.
