Residents of as many as 12 villages under Bhograi block in Balasore district have been severely affected due to the flood in Subarnarekha River. Though the water level in the river has receded, the villages are still alienated from the main land for the last three days.
The villages are still submerged over knee-deep water and as a result, the residents are finding it hard to manage cooked food and clean water for them.
"Flood water has entered the houses of almost all the residents in the area and as a result we are not able to cook our food. It is also becoming difficult for us to get pure drinking water as all the tube-wells in our area have been submerged in water," said a resident of Talapada village.
"Our thatched house collapsed in the flood water. We are completely helpless now," rued another villager.
