In a significant political development ahead of a possible reshuffle within the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), a high-level meeting of senior party leaders was convened today at Naveen Niwas, the official residence of party president Naveen Patnaik. The meeting was chaired by BJD president Naveen Patnaik himself and was attended by key senior leaders including Debi Prasad Mishra, Pranab Prakash Das, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pratap Deb, and Arun Sahoo.

Sources indicate that the meeting was primarily focused on final deliberations regarding the formation of the new executive committee of the party. With the announcement of the 81-member list of office bearers expected soon, the BJD supremo is holding detailed discussions with senior leaders to ensure a balanced and strategically composed leadership team.

No Internal Rift In Party

After the meeting, senior leader Arun Sahoo addressed the media and shared insights, stating, “The decisions regarding the executive body will be taken in phases. Ultimately, Naveen Babu will decide who will hold which position in the party.” He further added that “there is no internal conflict or rebellion within the party,” dismissing any speculation of internal dissent or factionalism.

This strategic gathering comes at a crucial juncture when opposition parties are actively reorganizing and preparing for the upcoming general elections. Political observers view this BJD meeting as a move to strengthen internal unity and sharpen the party's focus on organizational efficiency.

Notably, some senior BJD leaders also took veiled digs at the BJP, particularly pointing to the delay in their selection of a new state party president. The remarks are being interpreted as the BJD’s attempt to project stability and decisiveness in contrast to the opposition’s current leadership uncertainty.

As the state watches closely, the announcement of the new executive committee is likely to have far-reaching implications on BJD's future strategies and its positioning in the political landscape of Odisha.
