Coronavirus cases are witnessing a fresh surge in India, with active infections climbing to 2,710 on Saturday. This has sparked concerns among public. As per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 2,710, indicating a mild resurgence of the virus after months of low transmission rates.
While the overall numbers remain significantly lower than previous waves, the sudden spike in active infections has prompted states to review their preparedness and reissue public health advisories.
Among the states, Kerala continues to report the highest number of cases, with 1,147 active patients currently under observation or treatment. Maharashtra follows with 424 active cases, and Delhi has recorded 294 cases of Covid-19 infections.
The current trend suggests a gradual but noticeable uptick in the daily caseload. Health experts are advising people to maintain basic COVID-appropriate behaviour.
Odisha Senario
In Odisha, the situation remains relatively under control, but the virus has not spared the state entirely. As of now, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Odisha has risen to seven, triggering alertness among local health departments.
The Public Health Director has informed that another case of COVID-19 has come to light. The concerned individual tested positive in a rapid antigen test conducted recently.
"RTPCR testing has been initiated for confirmation," the Director said, adding that the true status of the case will be clear once the RTPCR result is available.
He further assured that necessary steps are being taken, and the situation is being closely monitored to prevent any further spread.
Advice Of Experts
Medical professionals are closely monitoring the evolving situation, particularly in view of the approaching monsoon season, which often contributes to the spread of viral infections. Hospitals and health centers are being advised to keep isolation wards and testing facilities ready in case of any sudden surge.
Authorities have clarified that there is no immediate cause for panic but have urged citizens not to be complacent. Surveillance and testing have been slightly ramped up in high-risk areas, especially in states reporting higher case loads. The Health Ministry is expected to issue updated guidelines if the trend continues, and citizens are encouraged to rely on official sources for verified information.
No Need to Panic Says Odisha Health Secretary
Amid the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases, the state Health Secretary has urged the public not to panic, but to remain cautious and responsible regarding their health.
Citing the latest ICMR report, the Health Secretary stated that the current variant of Covid-19 in circulation does not exhibit severe symptoms, and most cases are mild in nature. He also clarified that only seven active cases have been reported in the state, and all necessary precautions are being taken by the health authorities.
“Instead of being fearful, people should stay vigilant and follow basic health guidelines,” he advised, emphasizing that awareness and timely care are the best ways to manage the situation effectively.
