In a shocking incident, a couple allegedly died by suicide at Maniabandh in Badamba area of Cuttack on Sunday.
Though the exact reason behind their suicide is not yet clear, it is suspected that family feud may be its reason.
The deceased were identified as Nityananda Mohapatra(61) and wife Shantilata Mohapatra (54). This incident took place when no other family members were in the house.
As per reports, as the doors of their house did not open even after 8 am on Sunday, their neighbours peeped into the house and later, on opening the doors, they were shocked to find the couple lying on the floor.
Meanwhile, police started an investigation into the matter and registered two cases of unnatural death.
Speaking to the media, one of their relatives said,” I had gone to their house at 10 pm last night. Their younger son had gone out for an interview while their elder son and daughter-in-law stayed at another place. There was a minor difference of opinion in the family. I tried to iron out the difference of opinion between the couple and later came back home.”
He added that their neighbours found the couple lying dead on the floor inside the house after opening the doors in the morning.
However, no reaction from police has been received.
