A contractor was allegedly shot dead in ward-6 of Barbil municipality in Keonjhar district on Monday morning. Miscreants opened fire at Bhola Sinha while he was returning home on a motorbike.
Sinha was a contractor by profession. He was also one of the most influential businessmen in Barbil. The reason behind the firing is yet to be ascertained but business rivalry or previous enmity is suspected. The miscreants are on the run after the incident.
Passers-by spotted Sinha's body lying in a pool of blood and alerted the cops who rushed to the spot and recovered a bullet cartridge from the spot. The cops immediately rushed him to Barbil community health center (CHC) where he was declared dead by the doctors.
Local police have sealed all the major checkpoints and launched a manhunt to trace the miscreants. The cops also questioned a few locals to find out any witnesses in the case. The police are also scanned CCTV cameras in the area.
