In a respite for aspirants for constable posts in police battalions, the Orissa High Court, while hearing a petition on Friday gave its verdict allowing the applicants to apply in online and offline mode. 

The state’s apex court said the aspirants can apply but the results won’t be declared. 

As per sources, a notification was earlier published for the appointment in 1320 constable posts. At that time, a dispute arose over the upper age limit.

There is a rule that vacant posts should be filled every year. The problem stemmed from the fact that no recruitment was conducted for over 5 years after 2018. Since the exam was being held after a gap of five years, there was a problem with the age limit for aspirants who did not get a chance in the said period. Seeking justice, the aspirants had moved the court.
