Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday informed that the flood situation in Odisha is currently under control. 

The Minister further revealed that water levels in various rivers are expected to recede further. Evacuation of people from affected areas is underway. The government has directed the district administrations to assess the damage. Compensation will be provided for losses once the water recedes.

Minister Pujari said that the ongoing rains and floods have impacted Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar districts, with Jajpur being the worst affected. In Jajpur district, as many as 46 villages and 14 panchayats have been hit. Similarly, Bhandaripokhari in Bhadrak district has also been affected.

"Balasore and Jajpur districts have been affected. Keonjhar district has also been partially affected. Bhadrak district has also been affected. Some parts of the Sundargarh district have also been hit by the flood. As many as 46 villages and 14 panchayats have been hit in Jajpur district. Bhandaripokhari block in Bhadrak district has also been affected. Flood water has marooned some villages of Bhadrak and Jajpur," said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.

"We have started evacuating people from those areas. Cooked food is being served for them. They will return to their homes whenever the water level recedes and they feel secure. The district administrations have been directed to keep them in secure places until then. Cooked food will be provided to the people. If required, dry rations will also be distributed to them. Special arrangements have been made for the elders and children. The flood situation is completely under control now. The water level is below the danger level. It is currently stable and will start receding soon," he added.
