In a notable development, the principal and a lecturer of Abhimanyu Samanta Singhar Degree College, Balia in Odisha’s Jajpur were placed under suspension with immediate effect after a student accused the duo of attempting to rape her.
The Jajpur sub-collector has issued the suspension orders for principal Sudhir Kumar Rout and lecturer Bidyadhar Dhal after the student levied serious charges against them.
“Sri Sudhir Kumar Rout, Principal of Abhimanyu Samanta Singhar Degree College, Balia is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect pending drawal of disciplinary proceedings against him for negligence in Govt. duty and he is also absconding as reported by IIC Bari Ramachandrapur PS,” the suspension letter of the Principal also read.
“The headquarters of Sri Rout, Prinicipal is hereby fixed at GC Degree College, Bari, during the period of suspension. He shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority. Sri Pravakar Jena, Lecturer, Political Science, Abhimanyu Samanta Singhar Degree College, Balia will remain in charge of Principal until further order,” the letter read.
Similarly, the suspension letter of Dhal stated, “Sri Bidyadhar Dhal, Lecturer in Economics of Abhimanyu Samanta Singhar Degree College, Balia is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect pending drawal of a disciplinary proceeding against him. He has been absconding as reported by the IIC Bari Ramachandrapur.”
“The headquarters of Dhal is hereby fixed at GC Degree College, Bari during the period of suspension. Dhal shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority. This order shall come into force with immediate effect,” it further added.
Meanwhile, the two accused have been absconding since the female student lodged a complaint against them.
