A bogie of a coal-laden goods train caught fire near Turekela in Bolangir district on Tuesday morning. The train was on its way to Visakhapatnam from Raipur.
As per reports, the goods train was crossing Turekela station when the Station Master saw smoke emanating from one of the bogies. The station master informed the staff at the Kantabanji station following which the train was stopped.
Soon after firefighters were called in who doused the fire after some time.
While the exact reason behind the fire is still unknown, the railway authorities were unavailable for comments in this connection.
Earlier last week, a major fire broke out in a train parked at the coaching depot at Puri railway station. One bogie of the train was reportedly gutted in the fire mishap.
Sources said that the train had come to the coaching depot for cleaning-related works. As per reports, the fire was reported at the washing line. Subsequently, a massive operation was launched by the fire services department personnel to douse the flames.
