A shocking incident has emerged from Ganapatiguda village under Ramanaguda police limits in Rayagada district, where a Class 10 girl student allegedly lost her life due to online gaming. 

According to reports, the student had been actively engaged in an online gambling game, where she had reportedly won Rs 4 lakh. However, the associated online platform allegedly did not release the prize money, leading to distress and alleged tragic consequences.

The student had recently appeared for her Class 10 board examinations and was studying at Ramanaguda High School. 

Family members claim that her involvement in online gaming led to the unfortunate incident, and they have raised serious allegations regarding the unethical practices of such gaming platforms.

“She had won Rs 4 lakh and the money was not being released. It was for the last one year that she was playing some online game. We had asked her not to play any online game due to her board exams. But she was indulged in the practice without our knowledge,” said Lipi, a relative, adding that she ended her life by suicide on Wednesday night.

Investigation Underway 

Following the report, local police, along with the forensic team, have initiated an investigation at the incident site. 

Authorities are looking into the financial transactions and online activities of the deceased to ascertain the details surrounding the case.

The incident has sparked concerns regarding the increasing influence of online gaming on young students and the potential risks associated with unregulated digital gambling platforms.

The tragedy highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations on online gaming and gambling platforms to prevent such incidents in the future. 

Law enforcement agencies and education authorities are being urged to take proactive measures to raise awareness among students and parents about the potential dangers of online gambling and gaming addiction.
