Tensions flared between two groups during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony in Palia under Tihidi Police Station in Bhadrak district of Odisha late on Wednesday night. The incident left seven persons critically injured with three of them transferred to Cuttack for further medical treatment.

According to sources, the conflict began with a verbal altercation between the two groups over unspecified issues. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving several wounded.

Following the incident, a palpable tension prevailed in the area. 

Apprehending further unrest, three sections of police forces have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order situation.
