In a dramatic rescue operation at the Korukonda area in Malkangiri, the life of a three-year-old child, who had accidentally got his head stuck inside a brand-new steel pot (matka or ghada), was eventually saved.

As per reports, attracted by the shiny utensil, the child was playing with it when his head slipped inside and became trapped.

The pot, made of strong steel, posed a serious challenge. Neither could the child’s head be easily removed, nor could the pot be cut without risking injury. The use of a gas cutter was ruled out due to the danger of causing harm to the child.

With no other option, the distressed family reportedly transported the child, still stuck in the pot, to the Malkangiri Fire Station from Korukonda.

Displaying remarkable skill and presence of mind, the firefighters turned saviors. Using a hydraulic combi tool, they carefully cut the steel pot and safely freed the child without any harm.

The rescue scene was filled with chants of 'Haribol' and 'Jai Jagannath' from the emotional crowd. The fire personnel responsible for the daring and delicate rescue are set to be felicitated by the Fire Services Department for their bravery and expertise.

"As they had no equipment, they brought the child to us. By using the hydraulic combi and other equipment, we could rescue the child in around 10 minutes. As he was a small child, it was difficult to cut the steel pot. We managed to rescue the child by cutting the pot meticulously," said Malkangiri Fire Station officer Kamal Kumar Gouda.
