In a recent terrifying incident, a bus carrying visitors inside the lion safari at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar lost its balance and slipped from the main road to a ditch on Saturday afternoon.
As many as 30 visitors were trapped in the bus as the vehicle was stranded inside the safari for more than one and half-hour.
As per reports, lions were found circling close to the bus and it created panic among the visitors.
The Nandankanan zoo authorities were immediately informed about the incident. Subsequently, they took necessary measures. Only after the lions were relocated to a safer location, the passengers were safely rescued from the bus.
Though the visitors were panic-stricken after watching the lions so close to the stranded vehicle, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Meanwhile, question mark has been raised over the safety and security of the visitors inside various safaris of Nandankanan zoo after the incident.
The AFO has been asked to conduct an investigation into the incident. However, no reactions from Nandankanan Zoo authorities could be obtained in this regard.
Earlier in 2021, a bus also got stuck in mud inside the lion safari at the zoo. Another safari bus was sent then to bring the passengers back.
