A family in Balasore has alleged false propaganda in their name related to the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) card.
Sumanta Pradhan and his wife Urmila Pradhan from ward no 15 in Jaleswar Municipality area have alleged that a photograph of their family has been published claiming that they have expressed their gratitude to Odisha government for leg surgery of their daughter Smrutilekha at a cost of Rs 2 lakh by using BSKY card.
However, the dissemination of this information raised widespread reactions, including a sharp denial from Sumanta and Urmila. The family stated that they have neither received a health card under BSKY, nor they have treated their daughter by using the card.
“It’s a false propaganda. My daughter is not suffering from any kind of physical ailments. We have never treated her. We have never applied for BSKY and there is no question of getting any help from the government,” said Smrutilekha’s mother, Urmila Pradhan.
“Those who have got help under BSKY, the government should mention their name in its propaganda. Why are they blaming us unnecessarily?” Urmila questioned.
“My daughter is a nursing student and she doesn’t have any kind of ailments. We have never used BSKY card to treat her. We don’t understand why they are using our name for their propaganda falsely,” rued Smrutilekha’s father Sumanta Pradhan.
However, reacting to the allegations, Jaleswar Municipality authorities said that it was done by a third party and they have no hands in it.
“A third party agency has done it and we are not involved in the incident,” said Jaleswar Municipality Executive Officer, Ajay Kumar Mohapatra.
