Bogie of goods train derails in Sambalpur, senior Railway officials at spot

A goods train bogie derailed near Sarala, Sambalpur district, on Tuesday. No casualties were reported. Indian Railways officials are investigating the cause. Earlier, two people from Odisha died in a Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailment in Jharkhand.

One bogie of a goods train jumped the tracks near Sarala in Sambalpur district on Tuesday. The exact reason behind the derailment is not clear.

A major tragedy was averted as only one bogie of the goods train derailed. A passenger train had also derailed a few months back. No casualty was reported in that incident, sources said. Following the derailment of the goods train, senior officials of Indian Railways have reached the spot.

However, the officials said that only after the preliminary investigation, the exact reason behind the incident can be ascertained.

Earlier in the day, two persons from Odisha were killed in the Howrah-Mumbai Mail mishap. The train derailed in Jharkhand in the wee hours today. Both the deceased hail from Rourkela.
