In a gruesome incident, blood-stained body of a youth was found lying along the City road near Leprosy Colony in Puri on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Bikram Keshari Pradhan- a resident of Baliguali village under Puri Marine police station.
The body has reportedly cut marks on its head, neck, belly and hand. It is suspected that Pradhan has been murdered over drug trafficking. However, the cause behind his suspected murder is yet to be ascertained.
As per reports, Pradhan was working as an employee in the food and beverage department of a local hotel. Upon getting information, local police reached the spot and already started an investigation into the incident.
Being informed about the incident by the police, family members of the deceased also reached the spot following which police started discussion with them on the incident.
At a time when the State is preparing for the 2024 General Elections, such an incident in a tourist place like Puri has raised serious law and order concerns.
As per police sources, more information about the motive behind the murder could be ascertained following a thorough probe into the incident.
Speaking on the incident, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that the police have already started an investigation into the case. “Only after further probe, we can ascertain the motive of the murder,” said Mishra.
