According to sources, the Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal stated to the media that any decision involving the recent physical assault would be taken by the State government. He made this comment after a closed-door discussion with several senior party leaders and Jagannath Pradhan concerning the alleged assault on BMC officer Ratnakar Sahoo.
“Party’s internal matters cannot be disclosed to the media. Everyone has already condemned what happened in the recent past. The government will decide on further action. If any decision is made, our party spokesperson will inform you,” said Manmohan Samal while speaking to reporters after the meeting.
Pradhan, at the center of the discussion, spent nearly two hours at the BJP state office. When Pradhan emerged, he briefly told the media, “The state president had called me. We discussed the issue. I’m heading home now.”
Earlier in the day, speculations mounted over whether BJP leader Pradhan would be arrested. The buzz intensified after Pradhan shared a post on social media, where he wrote, “I respect the law. I will cooperate with whatever action is taken as per the law.”
“The State is moving toward an administrative logjam. In the best interest of the State and our government, I am respecting the law,” Jagannath Pradhan added.
Even security arrangements were visibly tightened at Kharvel Nagar Police Station, hinting at the sensitivity surrounding the issue.
