BJP targets CM Naveen over his posters at PDS centres, terms police as security guards of BJD

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday targeted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the Odisha government over his posters at PDS centres.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal said, “People removed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s posters from PDS centres after knowing that the rice is actually provided by the Centre. But the way the State police are giving security to CM Naveen’s posters, it seems they are acting as security guards of BJD.”

Biswal accused the IIC of Kotpad police station in Koraput of threatening two tribals who removed Naveen Patnaik’s poster from the PDS centre.

Biswal asked, “Why are the Police protecting BJD and indulging in anti-tribal activities? When people are raising questions on the efficiency of Koraput police over Ganja smuggling, the cops are busy protecting hoardings of BJD leaders and ministers.”

It is pertinent to mention here that a Supply Assistant was seen distributing PDS rice under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s poster at Tanaga panchayat under Mayurbhanj’s Jamda block last week.

The villagers reportedly protested the act and asked the Supply Assistant to remove the posters, which he obliged after apologising to them.

The BJP including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have been attacking the BJD-led Odisha government, claiming that the state government has been hijacking the schemes of the Central government by printing its own photographs on advertisements in a bid to take credit.
