Keeping in view the upcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha has devised a special strategy to pocket rural votes. As part of the strategy, the party will embark on ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ (Village Outreach) with an aim to reach out to at least one crore voters.
The three-day campaign will start on February 9 while a workshop for party functionaries and leaders on the campaign was held at the party office in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The party workers will take stock of the ground realities to see if assistance and benefits provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are reaching the beneficiaries. Besides, people will be sensitized about the implementation of the welfare schemes of the Centre.
BJP leader Golak Mohapatra, while speaking to the media, said, “The party workers and leaders will visit villages to reach out to one crore people during the campaign. They will assess the ground situation.”

“The rich BJD leaders are misappropriating the Central assistance. During the ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’, party workers and leaders will convince the people. The BJD will be exposed before the people,” he added, asserting that the three-day campaign will help his party to establish Ram Rajya at the Centre and the state.
