Land pattas have been provided to the landless persons in Odisha during the tenure of the previous BJD government. However, the beneficiaries have not yet been provided land, informed Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari in the Assembly on Thursday.
“The previous government distributed land pattas like leaflets. However, the process that should have been initiated to provide them land was not carried out. The files in this regard were not opened and nothing has been done to identify the persons to whom land pattas were distributed. No process was initiated to provide them lands,” said Pujari.
“In some cases, father was provided land patta. However, his son is yet to be provided land despite having possession of the land patta,” he added.
The Minister assured that the BJD government has already started the process to provide land to the persons to whom land pattas have been distributed.
“Our government has started a survey to identify the persons to whom land pattas have been distributed. They will be identified and land will be provided to them soon. The matter will be solved within five years,” said Pujari.
