Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra does not abide by the orders of the Supreme Court. Rather, he sends out a message that BJP legislators and workers are above the Law, senior BJD leader Pratap Deb alleged in a presser held on Friday.

Pratap Deb said this while reacting to the recent rejection of an anticipatory bail plea previously filed by MLA Mishra.

The BJP leader's statements are not acceptable and this reflects his ‘ego of power’. In case, any law and order situation arises in the State in the future, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be held responsible for it, the BJD spokesperson warned.

When contacted, the BJP legislator stated, “BJD got the results of its ‘ego of power’ enjoyed over the last 24 years. We do not have any ‘ego of power’ whatsoever. Let them create law and order situations and will face the consequences. The Opposition party has been saying this after being ousted from power.”

Earlier yesterday, MLA Mishra’s petition was rejected by the apex court in connection with the alleged attack on an on-duty female cop in the district. The incident occurred on February 14, 2024.

Both the woman IIC and legislator Mishra had then lodged separate FIRs against each other. However, the BJP leader had previously moved the Supreme Court after his bail petition was rejected by the Orissa High Court, Cuttack.
