Politics has now intensified in Odisha over the erratic power supply and both the state government and Tata Power are in the line of fire of the opposition parties. Amidst the ongoing war or words, BJD MP Amar Patnaik on Tuesday blamed Tata Power as such a situation has cropped up due to improper load balancing.

“The power outages in some parts are only because of some gaps or shortfall in distribution which are not being reviewed and upgraded from time to time,” said Patnaik.

According to Patnaik, this is the best time to do this as they (company) will be in a position to react better in case of Nor’wester or thunderstorms.

“At present, there is infrastructure for supply. But I have not been able to see the backup plan in case of a disaster in the form of an accident or even a minor tree-felling incident. There should be a disaster recovery plan taking into account all possible scenarios. I have not been able to see this and if Tata Power does so, they will be able to win the confidence of people as they will be able to know the time for power restoration,” said Patnaik.

Such things will also ensure that the employees complete the work within the specified time period. “It is surprising that Odisha government has been lauded for its disaster management globally but a private company like Tata has not been able to do such,” he added.
