BJD leader ‘thrashes’ MCL official with sandals
As many as four persons, including a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former sarpanch Parbati Behera have been arrested for allegedly thrashing an official of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) with sandals in Jharsuguda on Thursday.
As per the allegations, Behera along with her three supporters barged into the MCL office located at Bandabahal under Lakhanpur block in the district and thrashed General Manager Sanjay Jha of MCL coal mines with sandal.
A purported video of the incident has also gone viral on various social media platforms.
In the viral video, Behera could be seen having a conversation with the MCL official before thrashing the latter with sandals while telling her associates to film the entire incident. Moreover, she could be heard saying that she is ready for the police action.
However, what is the motive behind the attack is still unknown, sources informed.
The action from the police came after Jha filed a written complaint against Behera and her three associates at Banharpali police station.
No comments from the police, Jha or Behera could be obtained over the incident.
