BJD leader Bhupinder Singh launches veiled attack on party’s leadership over poll debacle

Following the BJD's recent electoral setback, internal tensions escalate as senior leader Bhupinder Singh criticises party dynamics using a football analogy. Amar Satpathy and Prasanna Patasani have also voiced dissatisfaction, targeting Naveen Patnaik and VK Pandian. The BJD has yet to respond.

After facing a debacle in the last concluded Assembly elections, the fissure within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is widening with party leaders firing salvos against each other. Joining the league,  senior party leader Bhupinder Singh launched a veiled attack on Sunday.

Speaking to media, Singh said, “In a football match, while the forwards score three goals, but the goalkeepers play in the sleeper cell, then there is no point in scoring goals as the defeat is certain.”

“Every political party is trying to get its team ready for future competition. Many teams want to fetch good players to their side and it is the same in politics as well,” Singh added.

No comments from BJD could be obtained over Singh’s remark.

Earlier, Amar Satpathy, Prasanna Patasani and several other BJD leaders have targeted the conch party following the poll debacle. 

While Satpathy targeted BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik asking him to accept the responsibility for the defeat in the Assembly 
elections, Patasani spewed venom over VK Pandian’s leadership in the party.
