In a piece of good news for fliers, regular flight services will start between Bhubaneswar and Durgapur from August 30.
According to the Director of Durgapur Airport, Kailash Mandal, while Indigo's flight service between Bhubaneswar and Durgapur will be available daily, the service between Bhubaneswar and Bagdogra (Siliguri) and Bhubaneswar and Guwahati will be four days a week and three days a week respectively.
Informing about the commencement of the service, Director of Durgapur Airport, Kailash Mandal said, “There is direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Siliguri. But, people are getting an alternate option to fly from Bhubaneswar to Durgapur and from there to Bagdogra (Siliguri). The services between Bhubaneswar and Bagdogra (Siliguri) and Bhubaneswar and Guwahati will be four days a week and three days a week respectively.”

“Booking has already started. The airliner has fixed an attractive fare. This will help augment the tourism sector. Shanti Niketan is a world heritage site. From Durgapur, this site can be reached by one hour and fifteen-minute drive. There are other attractive places as well,” he added.
