The capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneswar is all set to enhance its air connectivity with five new Indian cities from New Year 2025, informed Prasanna Pradhan, Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Thursday.

The upcoming flight services from Bhubaneswar Airport will provide travellers with convenient access to the cities of Indore, Dehradun, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Kochi.

As per initial reports, an IndiGo flight from Bhubaneswar airport will fly to Indore four days a week from January 1. Similarly, flight services from Bhubaneswar to Dehradun will be available for three days a week from New Year 2025.

Similarly, travelers and flyers from Bhubaneswar can also fly directly to Lucknow and Jaipur three days a week from January 3. Moreover, Air India will connect flyers directly from Bhubaneswar to Kochi all seven days of the week, starting New Year.

Apart from convenience to flyers, the upcoming flight services from Bhubaneswar Airport will also go a long way in contributing to the Temple city’s growing importance as a regional transportation hub. Pradhan confirmed that the groundwork for the flight services have already been set in motion.

Putting Odisha’s growth on the fast track, the Mohan Majhi-led government is promoting direct flight services to more cities across India. Recently, direct flights were also announced to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow and Mumbai from Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda.

Earlier, CM Mohan Majhi had highlighted that Odisha’s recently approved New Destination Policy has incentivized airlines to expand their operations at Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports.

“These enhanced air connections are expected to significantly boost commerce and tourism across the state. The availability of belly cargo on these flights will also provide a strong push for the transportation and growth of agricultural produce, further driving Odisha’s economic development,” the CM had added.
