Berhampur MKCG doctor held for producing fake caste certificate

A doctor practicing at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur was arrested for allegedly producing a 'fake' caste certificate. The doctor has been identified as Durgadatta Sasani, assistant professor of the Department of Anaesthesia in MKCG. 

The matter came to the fore after his elder brother lodged a written complaint in this connection with Semiliguda police. Based on his complaint, police registered a case and made the arrest. He was later produced in the court, reports said.

According to sources, the doctor had got a job in MKCG Medical in 2017 by allegedly producing 'fake' caste certificate. He even got a promotion in 2022, reports added. He had been using two surnames- 'Jani' and 'Sasani' since a long time.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked resentment among the locals who questioned how he got the job by issuing a fake caste certificate and there had been no inquiry in this regard.

No comments could be obtained from the said doctor, police, or the MKCG authorities in this regard.
