BSKC members stage protest
The Begunia Swasthya Kriyanusthana Committee (BSKC) has called for Begunia bandh tomorrow demanding the upgradation of the primary health center in the area into a community health center (CHC)
As per reports, BSKC has been demanding the upgradation of the health center since long before the district administration. They have been even staging protests in front of Begunia Primary Health Center for the last 49 days.
As the administration has not allegedly taken any measure to resolve their issues, the BSKC has decided to intensify their agitation and has called for Begunia bandh on Monday.
During the observance of the bandh, schools, colleges, government and private offices, shops, and markets in the area will be closed tomorrow. Plying of vehicles will be halted as NH 57 will be obstructed during the bandh, the members of the group said.
BSKC members have requested various farmers, labourers, and women organisations to extend support to the bandh. All the villagers have also been requested to make the bandh a complete success.
“Health is a basic amenity. However, Begunia people are deprived of it. The administration had promised to convert Begunia Primary Health Center into a community health center in 2008, but it failed to keep its promise. We have been staging protests for the last 49 days. However, the administration did not care to pay any attention to our demands. We are forced to hit the streets now,” said BSKC President.
