Banks in Odisha to remain closed on Monday, check latest government notification

All the banks and other financial institutions across Odisha will remain closed on Monday (September 9, 2024). As per the latest notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the Odisha government has announced for closure of banks and financial institutions on September 9 on account of Nuakhai festival.

A formal notification in this connection has been issued by the Odisha Government as per section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 which is in accordance with the official order issued by the Home Ministry dated June 8, 1957.

As Nuakhai is a prominent agrarian festival of Western Odisha, the Odisha government has announced bank holiday on September 9. Though the Nuakhai festival falls on Sunday (September 8), the Odisha government has announced a holiday for September 9.

Earlier, the Odisha government on Wednesday announced a holiday for all schools across the State on September 9 (Monday) for the agrarian festival ‘Nuakhai’.

“All the government, government-aided and private schools under the department will remain closed on September 9 (Monday) for the Nuakhai festival,” read a notification issued on Wednesday by the I&PR Department.
