Special rituals of ‘Bamana Janma Niti’ are being performed at Puri Srimandir on the occasion of ‘Bhadraba Shukla Dwadas Tithi’ on Sunday.

The ‘Bamana Janma Niti’ is a significant ritual in the temple’s calendar, marking the birth of Lord Vamana, the fifth avatar of Lord Vishnu.

As per the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), public darshan at Srimandir will be stopped after ‘Madhyahna Dhupa’ from 5 pm to 8 pm due to the smooth conduct of the special rituals of the Holy Trinity-Lord Jagannath and His siblings-Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra. The servitors will perform various traditional rituals during the period that require the temple premises to be free from public interference.

Meanwhile, Sunia, a Hindu festival rich with high religious, cultural and historical significance is being observed in all the mutts and temples of Puri.

Sunia is an auspicious occasion to begin any important activity. It has been a highly important day for the Gajapati king of Puri. At the king’s place, a special ceremony for the king is observed.

Moreover, ‘Parswa Paribartana’ rituals of Garuda will be observed in Srimandir amid spiritual ambience.

“Sunia is considered as a New Year. Gajapati Maharaja will enter 68 ‘Anka’ today. It will be the start of 1432 ‘Sal’. A special ceremony for the king called the Abhisheka is observed at Puri Gajapati King’s palace. ‘Gadi Puja’ is also performed at all the mutts of Puri,” said Jagannath culture researcher Surya Narayan Rathasharma.
