The Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements for the safety and security of the visitors coming to Bali Yatra, one of the country’s largest open-air fairs that kick-started in Cuttack today.
Informing about the arrangements at a press conference, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that 25 aid posts have been set up at the fairground for the safety and security of the visitors. There will be eight special teams keeping a vigil on the fairground. Furthermore, special arrangements are in place for elderly persons and children.

He asked the visitors who are bringing children with them to the fair to write their mobile numbers on a piece of paper and keep the same in their pockets so that in case they get separated from their family members, they can be contacted.
Similarly, he advised the elderly persons coming to the fairground during peak hours and holidays to remain alert. It will be good for the women to come to the fair without wearing any gold ornaments to avoid snatching and pickpocketing, he said.
Regarding traffic management, he said, “There are three main roads that connect to Bali Yatra ground. No heavy vehicle will be allowed on these roads after 4 pm. For those who are coming to the fair via Jobra main road, there is a parking place at Silver City Club. Those who are coming to the fair via Sati Chaura, can park their vehicles at Dayashram field and Christian ground.”
A total of 60 platoon police forces will be deployed on the ground. The entire fairground and the Ring Road will be under CCTV surveillance. There will be policemen in plain clothes to attend the cases of eve teasing, molestation, pickpocketing and snatching, he informed.
