The recently-concluded Bali Yatra is now embroiled in a controversy and Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim on Sunday demanded an impartial probe into the corruption allegations.
While addressing a press conference, the lawmaker of Barabati-Cuttack alleged that the Cuttack Municipality Corporation (CMC) organized musical programmes and laser shows by spending taxpayers' money.
“Two gates were put up and a provision of Rs 32 lakh was made in the tender. When I checked it with the person who constructed the gates, he told me that he had been paid Rs 6 lakh. The payment was made in cash. Another contractor, without participating in the tender received money from the CMC,” he alleged.

“Our questions are meant for the CMC Mayor and the CMC Commissioner. You ( Mayor and Commissioner) shortlisted the names through tender. The tender was awarded to the same person, who got the tender last year,” he pointed out.
“We demand the state government to take steps for an impartial investigation into the allegations and to give justice to the people of Cuttack City. Or else, the Congress would hit the street in the coming days,” he added.
