Union Health Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to launch the ambitious Ayushman Bharat scheme in Odisha on April 11. He has embarked on a three-day visit to the State and will oversee the launching while engaging in several other events, sources said on Friday.

The Union Minister will arrive in Odisha late on April 10 and will remain until the evening of April 12. His official itinerary includes attending a training session for members of the legislative assembly (MLAs). Furthermore, Nadda is expected to participate in an official function at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar.

As the National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nadda may also meet party leaders for significant discussions.

Itinerary of the Union Health Minister

“JP Nadda is coming to Odisha and he will inaugurate Ayushman Bharat Yojana on April 11. He is scheduled to visit CIPET and AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. He also has several other programmes. A training camp of MPs and MLAs is to be held on the evening of April 11,” Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal expressed while briefing to mediapersons.

“He (the Union Minister) will arrive in Bhubaneswar at around 12.30 AM (half past midnight of April 10). He will leave for Delhi on the evening of April 12,” the BJP chief added.

Notably, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling earlier indicated that in its initial rollout, around 3.5 crore people in the State will benefit from this health insurance scheme.

A budgetary allocation of around Rs 3.5 Thousand Crore has been earmarked to support the initiative. The ‘Head of Account’ has undergone revisions, and previous health cards will be replaced. Alongside the launching of Ayushman Bharat, the Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana health insurance cards will be introduced, bringing promising benefits to citizens.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme is expected to be implemented in more than 27,000 medical facilities, with a specific emphasis on benefiting migrant workers. This was highlighted by the Health Minister during a previous official programme.
