As per the previous announcement, the Odisha government is going to implement the much-awaited Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the state soon.

In an exclusive interview with OTV, State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Friday informed that the Centre’s flagship health insurance scheme, AB-PMJAY, will be integrated with the state’s own health scheme- Gobandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (G-JAY).

“A comprehensive database is being prepared and the beneficiaries will be able to get healthcare services in 27000 empanelled hospitals across the country. Earlier, only 900 hospitals were empanelled under the previous state-run health scheme. We are hopeful of implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme by this financial year,” said Mahaling.

The State Health Minister further informed that 'one card' will be issued to the beneficiaries and the state government will issue cards to 3.5 crore individuals. The card will also benefit elderly persons above 70 years.
