Demanding job regularization, hundreds of AYUSH doctors staged a demonstration at Lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Protesting against the State government's alleged dillydallying approach towards their demand for permanent jobs, hundreds of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) doctors took out a rally under the banner of the State RBSK AYUSH Doctors’ Association.
The rally culminated at the Lower PMG where the agitating doctors staged a demonstration, shouting slogans against the state government.
At a time when the State government has announced the abolishment of the contractual recruitment system, over 1200 AYUSH doctors are still serving on a contractual basis and at a comparatively low salary, the protestor alleged.
They alleged the government is not taking any decision regarding their long-pending demand despite several rounds of discussion. They warned they would intensify their agitation in the coming days if their demand is not considered favourably.
“Despite being in a noble profession, we the doctors have been forced to hit the street. This is the third time that we are staging a demonstration. We were posted in November, 2013. But we are yet to be regularized,” said Dr Himanshu Mishra, working president, State RBSK AYUSH Doctors’ Association.
