A minor girl narrowly escaped a forceful abduction attempt by five miscreants near Karigarsahi under Dhenkanal Town police limits while she was on her way to school. The incident occurred when the accused tried to forcibly take her into a car, leading to a struggle.
Complaint Filed By Family
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s family at the local police station, the five accused attempted to abduct her in broad daylight. During the scuffle, the girl reportedly fell and sustained injuries, which helped her evade the abduction bid. The identities of the accused remain unknown.
One Woman Among Accused
In her statement, the student mentioned that one of the five persons attempting the abduction was a young woman. However, the exact reason behind the attempted abduction is still unclear.
Victim Narrates Ordeal
Recounting the harrowing experience, the victim student said, "I was on my way to school when a young woman called me over to open the door. And then she requested me to open the 'Mangala Ghara' and said that she wanted to offer prayers. Shortly after, a few young men arrived, and I assumed they had also come to worship. But suddenly, on the woman's command, they all forcibly grabbed me and tried to abduct me. I somehow managed to escape and save myself. All of them were wearing masks."
The family has urged authorities to take swift action to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the attempt to abduct the minor.

The police are yet to respond to the complaint or provide any official statement regarding the identities of the accused or the possible motive behind the abduction attempt.
